Rum Punch

Rum Punch: Dark Rum Base

Ingredients

  1. Lemon Juice – 150 ml
  2. Orange Juice – 250 ml
  3. Sugar Syrup – 250ml
  4. Dark Rum – 750 ml
  5. Water – 1 litre
  6. Crushed Cloves – 5 to 6
  7. Ground Nutmeg – 1/2 Teaspoon
  8. Crushed Cinnamon – 2 Inch Piece (or add to taste)
  9. Chopped Fruit – 1 Cup
  10. Apple Slice – 1 per serving

Method

Mix all ingredients thoroughly, except the rum, and set aside for the spices to steep and settle. Strain the liquid into a jug or a punch bowl. Add the rum and ice. Add chopped fruit such as apples, strawberries, orange, grapes to make a fruit rum punch. Serve in a glass garnished with an orange slice.

This punch can also be served hot for winter evenings.Boil the water with the spices and sugar. Strain and add the lemon juice, orange juice, rum and chopped fruit. Serve hot from a Punch bowl cups garnished with apple or orange slices.
